MTNA Competitions

MTNA Competitions were held on October 19th, 2024, at VCSU

Requirements, applications, fees and dates are available on the MTNA website.

Congratulations to these winners of the MTNA Competitions held at Valley City State University on Oct. 19th.

The winners/representatives advance to a video-only Division Competition. Division winners compete in the National Finals at the annual MTNA National Conference.

NDMTA supports the MTNA Performance and Composition Competitions. These competitions comply with MTNA requirements and state winners may advance to division and national competitions. MTNA active membership dues must be paid before submission of registration form.

Time to get ready for the 2024-2025 MTNA National Competitions

Registration deadline for all levels of Composition, Piano, Piano Duet, Strings and Woodwinds is Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Eric Bergeman

Congratulations to Eric Bergeman, of Forman, ND, who won First Place in the Young Artist Woodwind Category at the MTNA National Competition in Atlanta, GA. The MTNA Competitions were held in conjunction with the MTNA National Conference this past March. Eric is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Bonita Boyd and Anne Harrow.  He is also a flute instructor at the Eastman Community Music School. Eric has already won numerous competitions and now can add the prestigious MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competitions to his resume.

Senior

  • Performance Competitions: Piano, Brass, String, Woodwind, Voice, Piano Duet, and Composition (Age 15-18)
  • Piano Duet (Age 11-18 with at least one student age 15-18)

Young Artist

  • Performance Competitions: Composition, Piano, Brass, String, Woodwind and Voice
  • Age 19-26

Chamber Music

  • Competitions: String and Wind
  • 3-6 performers
  • Age 18-29
